Red Factions new addition Guerrilla beta is out, and at just about a gig download it is worth the effort. Just like there previous games Red Faction : Guerrilla prides its self on destructible environments. These unlike the buildings in Battlefield bad company done have invincible supports to sustain the buildings integrity. With this buildings can be brought crashing down but removing the appropriate fixtures. This is helped by the fact everyone gets the best weapon in the game the "sledgehammer" which can be used as a melee weapon and can be used to destroy buildings or making your own doors through walls. With this you also get a nice new addition of backpack upgrades. These add the effects suck as short periods of flight, super fast running, weapon damage and my favorite the Rino which when used can push yourself through walls destroying everything in your way... even other players. It is great fun and a lot of loughs. The game itself runs very nicely, smooth and looks great, especialy when your destroying buildings or smashing another person flying with a sledgehammer.

After many new E3 videos and screen shots this game looks like it should be great. Lets just hope they can get there multi player online play together with a strong single player game for a big success. Below is the new trailer along with screen shots of the multi player menus. It looks like they have put a lot of thought into the multi player side of things which is good to see. Also looks like there will be 6 different classes to choose from including Medic, Engineer, Grenadier, Scout, Tactician and Saboteur. From these pictures it looks like ranks, leader boards, statistics and awards will be all the go. Can't wait for this one. Microsoft have announced that Windows Live the PC version of the xbox's Live. Microsoft changed there service to be free where to play games live on the xbox still is charged at a monthly rate. This means should give some incentive to play games cross platform now, as almost all games on the PC are free to play already. Now if only Microsoft could take this into account and withdraw the fees from the xbox live gold access, with the competition at Sony also having free to play games.

Yesterdays much anticipated PS3 Firmware 2.40 where finally the Playstation 3 would finally get the cross media bar and trophies BUT unfortunately this release seem to be preemptive. It seems that along the downloading the 2.40 update enough Playstation owners were finding this update also had a chance of turning your PS3 into an expensive paper weight.
While apparently the problems only affected a small percentage of the gaming population, Sony explain they are committed to providing the PS3 community with XMB access features delivered in the v2.40 update, and that they are working on the problem with the aim of fixing it before re-releasing the firmware. Following the reports of damaged hardware, we have removed the firmware from our servers and will re-upload it as soon as Sony announce that the problems have been fixed.

Codemasters announce that they have secured the exclusive rights to F1 Gaming. "Building on the success of GRID and DiRT, Codemasters Studios is leading the design and development of the games, across multiple formats, using a new evolution of the fantastic EGO Engine technology. The first game’s expected to launch in 2009, and will feature all the Grand Prix circuits, teams, cars, and driver likenesses from that season. "
With the success of all the previous racing titles i should be a title to keep an eye out for any racing fans.
